dTIMS Maintenance Management (MM) Coming Soon!
by Richard Fox-Ivey, Deighton

Introducing dTIMS Maintenance Management (MM)! Our newest product is a browser-based application which doesnt sacrifice good looks and usability for ease of deployment by IT. Supported database technology continues to include SQL and Oracle just as dTIMS does.

Since December, weve made headway in a number of key areas:

  • Data Definition and Asset Repository: Designed and implemented the new asset repository structure
  • Security: Designed and implemented robust, user-level, security
  • User Interfaces: Designed and implemented user interfaces for Scheduling, Resource Management, Mapping, Database Configuration, dTIMS wf and md
  • Workflow: Performed preliminary integration into the new MMS user interface, and started development of MMS-specific work tasks
  • Management Dashboard: Performed preliminary integration into the new MMS user interface, more work to be done to publish MMS results to the MD interface

We still have plenty of development work to do before DUC 2011, but we’re very happy with the progress and are on track for release at DUC 2011. To see some sample screen shots or to get the datasheet, please contact Richard Fox-Ivey. In addition, if you are interested in “kicking the tires” on the new MMS, drop us a line, we’re eager to demo the progress of the new system and get Customer feedback. Stay tuned…

dTIMS Reports using SQL Services
by Gary Ruck P. Eng. & Andres Carvallo, Deighton

In 2006 Deighton developed a toolbar that resides in a ArcView map document to allow the City of Fort Collins, Colorado to locate their bridges on a map, provide easier access to their bridge data and to print reports. These custom bridge reports were developed by Deighton using Crystal Reports. These reports worked well at the time for dTIMS Desktop version; however, problems arose when the City recently upgraded to dTIMS Enterprise. The decision was made to investigate using other tools. For the past several weeks Deighton has been working with the City of Fort Collins on upgrading their Bridge Management Toolbar. Deighton has decided to utilize SQL Report Services as the framework for developing the reports and for providing the data to the end user.

The use of SQL Report Services for any existing dTIMS Enterprise user can greatly improve the accessibility, effectiveness, and quality of any dTIMS report. If anyone is interested in the City of Fort Collins project or how Deighton can assist in developing custom SQL Reports for their agency, please contact Gary Ruck.

The implemented solution was a modified Markov chain matrix that represented the transition from one condition to another and at the same time could be used to quantify the areas in need of paint.

Christchurch, New Zealand
by Craig German, Deighton

On Tuesday February 22, a 6.3-magnitude quake struck the city of Christchurch, New Zealand during the lunchtime rush. The quake toppled buildings, buckling streets and ripping the facades of iconic churches, including the Christchurch Cathedral and the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament. Clean up efforts are ongoing as the people deal with after shocks from the quake. We wish to extend our thoughts and prayers to all the people of Christchurch during this tragic time.
